The Lowdown Croatia's rare blend of glamour and rustic authenticity has made it a premiere European sun destination since the end of a heated war of independence. Your daily dilemmas will include whether to bask in the sun on a glistening yacht, or to explore the history and architecture of the nation's Venetian cities. Regardless of which way things go, you'll be on the most stunning coast on the Adriatic, so either way you win. While the LGBT community can't marry, and homosexuality remains generally frowned upon, common-law marriage rights are given to same-sex couples who have lived together for over three years. The Best Time to Visit The coast of Croatia has a Mediterranean climate, with typically hot and dry weather between June and September. May and October can be pleasant, but some tourist shops and hotels along the coast may be closed. The Shock Factor Tourism in Croatia is well-developed enough to offer many of the luxuries of home. Not everyone you encounter will speak English, and locals in the tourism industry can, at times, be a little rough around the edges. Imagine working 14-hour days - during the hottest months of the year - and a little surliness seems forgivable. Visas A visa is not required for American, Australian, British and Canadian citizens travelling to Croatia for fewer than 90 days. There may be exceptions, and all visas are the responsibility of the traveller. Vaccinations Based on the entry requirements for Croatia, there are no vaccinations needed. TOURS RATING: Anthony N. Croatia is a beautiful and vibrant country that has stoically overcome war and adapted quite well to a massive influx of tourists. The food was amazing. Every meal used fresh produce that was locally sourced and organic. My favorite meals were peppered with fresh herbs and Istrian truffles. Each new port city I visited had its own unique energy, and walking the narrow streets of these cities was both haunting and fascinating. I really enjoyed my free time swimming off the yacht, taking in the beauty of the Croatian coastline, and tasting the local cuisine. Croatia is an incredibly beautiful country, especially once you reach the Adriatic Dalmatian Coast. Arid mountains, clear azure waters, big sky, sheltered coves and historic towns and villages. The landscape, the architecture, the history and the people, all wonderful. The pure joy of that experience, including the endless laughter shared among old friends and new, I will cherish forever. Traveling by sea is most definitely the way to see Croatia. And I look forward to my next trip with OUT Adventures. It was one of my most memorable vacations ever. My favorite part of the trip; waking up each morning to an up front and close view of the Croatian coast line. Croatia is a stunningly beautiful country, free of over development despite being a major tourist destination. All of the places we stopped at had similar characteristics but their own distinct personality. Dubrovnik was the highlight for me, a true gem of a city. Another highlight was getting to know my fellow travelers. Was a little nervous going in as a single person not knowing anyone beforehand, but was really happy to meet such a diverse mix of friendly guys. Fantastic trip and would highly recommend. A very diverse group of guys made every day interesting with different perspectives and insights. The scenery was amazing, the tour itinerary was perfect not too much, not too little , and we hit all the major places to see along the Dalmatian Coast. Croatia is at a perfect point - great new infrastructure, growing appreciation of tourism service, wonderful history, and beautiful scenery. This was our 2nd trip and definitely one of many to come.
